Writer: Steve Schwab
Coaster Queen’s writer, Steve Schwab, loves to play with words, whether it’s ad copy, satire, trivia questions or a grocery list. He’s also a big-time coaster enthusiast, having grown up in amusement park-filled southern California. So, of course, Steve’s favorite coaster is the Loch Ness Monster in Williamsburg, Virginia. Go figure.
A proud graduate of UCLA, Steve is writing his first book, a fun, tough-love guide to casino gaming called, “It’s Bad Luck to be Superstitious.” Odds are, it’ll be finished soon. Steve is also a certified Paralegal, professional poker player, travel agent, comedian, musician, trivia expert, game show champion and goldfish whisperer.
In a writing career spanning two centuries, Steve has written slogans for major fast food chains, dozens of TV and radio ads for Fortune 500 companies, media guides and character names for Academy Award winning films, and thousands of trivia questions, puzzles and games for an anti-dementia brain fitness system.
Steve loves to travel, and knows a few key words in several languages. He even taught himself to read Cyrillic for a trip to Russia! But his favorite foreign phrase has a unique roller coaster connection. He first heard it coming out of a rock-shaped speaker at the end of Disneyland’s Matterhorn, and it’s stayed with him forever: “Remain seated, please…permanecer sentados, por favor!”
